On Thursday, March 3rd, the Triangle Business Journal gathered local healthcare leaders to honor the 2018 class of Healthcare Heroes Award winners. Among the group of local healthcare industry elites was Vector Aeromedical’s, Andrew Baird. He proudly accepted the 2018 TBJ Healthcare Hero Award in the “Support Organization Executive” category.
Mr. Baird, ATP EMT-P, currently serves as the Program Director of Vector Aeromedical. He founded the company in 2012, in partnership with Causey Aviation. He is an accomplished pilot and EMS provider, and also serves as the Treasurer and Executive Member of the Board of Directors for Bahamas Habitat, along with serving on the advisory board for the Athens Drive Health Science Academy and Mission Delivery Committee for Children’s Flight of Hope.
“It truly is an honor to be recognized among these other giants in the local healthcare world. I am just coming to work and having fun, but being in a room with the other award winners who are making such great impacts in our industry is truly humbling,” said Andrew Baird.
2018 marked the 17th year that TBJ presented the Health Care Heroes Award to those nominated for their dedication, impact, and achievements within the Triangle’s health care community.
Other 2018 Healthcare Hero Award winners include Jane Byrd (Vice President of Surgical Services, UNC Rex Healthcare), Professor Flavio Frohlich (UNC School of Medicine), Dr. Francis Castiller (Critical Care Medical Director, UNC Rex Healthcare), Dr. Doug Trocinski (Emergency Services Medical Director, Wake Med Raleigh) and Lifetime Achievement winner Dr. Gary Greenberg (Medical Director, Urban Ministries of Wake County).
Industry leaders & colleagues honored the achievements of these individuals at a dinner in March at Prestonwood Country Club where former congresswoman Gale Adcock addressed the audience with a rousing keynote speech. Ms. Adcock is a nurse, industry advocate, and the current chief health officer for SAS Institute, which is headquartered in Cary, NC.
On what this award means for Vector Aeromedical, Baird said, “I am most pleased with our team being recognized for the hard work and dedication they have put forth and continue to put forth every day. This award is not about one person, but truly all of us as a family.”
